For the past 15 years, Stichting HAVONOS has been a beacon of hope for communities in Northern and Eastern Sri Lanka, particularly in remote and conflict-affected areas, through its strong partnership with OMI, Jaffna. Their steadfast support has touched the lives of countless vulnerable families, helping them rebuild their homes, livelihoods, and sense of dignity after years of hardship.

Stichting HAVONOS has supported a wide range of community programmes, including skills development, community strengthening, education for children and youth, alcohol and drug rehabilitation, and awareness on pressing social issues. A special highlight is the FAITH programme (Food Always In The Home), which empowers women-headed families by equipping them with practical skills and livelihood opportunities, ensuring both food security and sustainable income for their households. This initiative has been instrumental in restoring confidence, resilience, and independence among women who have faced significant challenges due to the civil war and displacement.

What truly sets Stichting HAVONOS apart is its personal, hands-on approach. The regular visits of the Chairman, Mrs. Sieni Schouten, and other board members to project areas allow them to engage directly with community members, monitor progress, and ensure that programmes are responsive to real needs. This active involvement has been crucial in maintaining the relevance, effectiveness, and impact of all initiatives.
