Canonization Process

The diocesan phase of closing session of the supplementary process of the cause of Canonization of the Servant of God, Rev. Fr. B. A. Thomas, OMI – Founder of the Contemplative Congregation of the Rosarians was held at the Bishop’s House, Jaffna on January 18, 2020 at 10:30 AM. This supplementary process was initiated by Rome to have 20 strong witnesses to attest to the heroic virtues of Fr. B. A. Thomas, OMI and a well written historicus of Fr. B. A. Thomas, OMI.

At this closing session, Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam, the Actor of the Cause of Canonization started the meeting with a prayer. Along with him there were Fr. Provincial – the Sponsor of the Cause, Fr. A. M. Stephan CR, – the Postulator of the Cause in the Diocesan Phase, Fr. Roland Jacques, OMI, – the Vice-Postulator in the Roman Phase, Fr. T. J. Kirupaharan, – the Episcopal Delegate, Very Rev. Fr. Jebaratnam, – the Promoter of Justice, and Fr. S. V. B. Mangalarajah, – the Head of the Historical Commission.

In his address His Lordship praised the life and mission of Fr. B. A. Thomas, OMI, the Servant of God. As a small boy, His Lordship said that he himself had viewed him as a saintly priest. His Lordship further said that Fr. B. A. Thomas, OMI in actuality was a real saint but we await for the completion of the Church’s process which will proclaim him a Saint. He requested that all the faithful particularly the Oblates and the Rosarians to pray to storm the Heaven, so that the needed two miracles through the intercession of B. A. Thomas, OMI may take place.

The committee that toiled hard to complete the supplementary process of Canonization of Fr. B. A. Thomas, OMI, the Servant of God, was very happy to terminate the process of Canonization of B. A. Thomas OMI.
