Congratulations

Congratulations Fr. Vincent Patrick, OMI

Rev. Fr. David Vincent Patrick, OMI was honoured with “Kalabhooshana State Award” by the Department of Cultural Affairs on the 3rd of November, 2021. The award was in recognition of his outstanding social service rendered to humanity. As a religious and missionary he is committed to this noble goal. Fr. Vincent Patrick is currently serving as Director of “Nambikkai Illam – the Home of Hope” which he himself founded as an important and necessary center where people struggling with substance abuse – alcohol and drug addicts are treated and rehabilitated in this center. Fr. Vincent Patrick is the founder of CRADA (Center for Rehabilitation of Alcohol and Drug Addicts) at Thiruppumunai, Mannar where the same ministry is being carried out. We know for sure that his immediate clients are addicts, patients in different capacities, pedestrians found on the road drunked or beggars, etc. It is true that the endorsement of his hard work and the dedication and confirmation of his passion for the poor and upliftment of the livelihood of the people lead him to the commitment in his mission as priest and religious.

He is also the founder director of “Naan” magazine which carries professional and qualitative articles on psychology and counselling. It is to be noted that “Naan” magazine is the first psychological magazine published in Tamil in Sri Lanka. He inculcated the habit of writing since his childhood. He says ‘for a better change in the society and world one has to start writing and expressing his or her opinions’. Forty years as Priest and forty six years as Religious, he embarked on God’s vineyard as the one who is in search of respect for humanity irrespective of any barriers, forming a new generation for a better world. Thus, the consequent result of his mission remains very fulfilling as every client resumes his life back to normal. This is his success.

Rev. Fr. S. Anpurasa, OMI was honoured with ‘The State Literary Award’ by the Department of Cultural Affairs for his immense contribution to literature for the educational upliftment of the children.

We wish Fr. Vincent Patrick and Fr. S. Anpurasa many more new and successful adventures in the days to come; as you continue to walk forward may you feel touched by God’s grace and guidance. No doubt that all the Oblates will be proud of your achievements.
