District Meetings

Kilinochchi –Mullaitivu
The Oblates, ministering in the districts of Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu were gathered at “Amaithy Vanam” Skanthapuram, on the 30th of December. Thirteen Oblates participated in this gathering. The meeting commenced with the Adoration focused on the theme of “Thanksgiving”.Rev. Fr. Rene Beshman, OMI, the outgoing Superior thanked all the members for their immense support given to him to fulfil his responsibilities. He invited the house for an election of a new Superior and a new Secretory of the KIli-Mullai districts. Thus, Rev Fr. Paul Nadchchethiram, OMI was proposed to be the Superior and Rev. Fr. S. Jeevaratnam, OMI to be the Secretory of KIli- Mullai districts.

Trincomalee
The District Meeting for the Oblate District of Trincomalee and Batticaloa was held on 15th January, 2022 at Amala Uthayam, Trincomalee. There were eight members present at the meeting. Fr. Provincial was present at the meeting. The first event of the meeting was the election of the new District Superior. Fr Celestine OMI was elected the District Superior by the members. Then there was the sharing of the members regarding their missions. It was a good opportunity to come together to feel the solidarity among the Oblates.


Jaffna
The Oblates in the Oblate district of Jaffna gathered on the 28th of December, 2021 at De Mazenod Scholasticate for their Christmas celebration. The meeting commenced with a Christmas message given by Fr. Carowf, OMI. Then, there was an enlightened discussion about our 175th Jubilee celebration. Thereafter, there were a lot of activities, namely a variety of games (group and individual), gifts sharing, carol singing, etc. The gathering came to an end with fellowship dinner.


Vavuniya-Mannar
The District Meeting for the districts of Vavuniya and Mannar was held at Amaithy Aham, Vavuniya with the presence of all the Oblates and Fr. Provincial. The gathering began with a liturgy commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, our Saviour. The Oblates were very much involved with their fuller participation in singing, indoor games and other activities. Consequently all the Oblates felt that the effort made to bring everyone together ingrains in the hearts a sense of a better community life.
