The Grand Mission at Uyilankulam parish Mannar covering specially the people who returned to Parapankandal ad Uyitharasankulam after displacement started on the 17th of June 2012. The Mission is headed by Fr. Jeyabalan and Frs Amal. Claier. Philip and Jesuthasan are involved in it. At the Beginning they visited houses and then conducted various programmes for the renewal of the people. Frs Hubert, Yogaraja, Mathanrajah and Alfred assited them in their house visiting.
I visited them and Fr. Francis, the Parish Priest is very satisfied and happy about their ministry of renewal. They organised various conscientizing programmes and organized Eucharistic and Marian processions to deepen the the faith in Eucharist and our Blessed Mother. The Grand Mission will end on the 16 th of July coinciding with their Church feast and the Eucharistic celebration will be presided over by His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Rayappu Joseph, Bishop of Mannar. The Grand Mission ends on the 16th of July 2012, but a new journey of life begins for the people there.
Since the Oblate preachers were involved in the mission, I took up the preaching at Madhu for the July feast with Fr. Peter Rajanayam Parish priest of Thatchanamaruthamadhu to keep up the tradition of the Oblates at the Shrine of Our lady of Madhu. I also thank all the Oblate Fathers of the Jaffna Province for their prayers for the Grand Mission.
