40 Years of Oblate Chaplains’ presence at the Jaffna General Teaching Hospital was Commemorated during the annual festival of Our Lady of Velankanni on September 22, 2019. During this occasion, the services rendered by the Oblates, priests, religious, doctors, nurses and the other workers in the hospitals were remembered with the sense of gratitude; even some of them were honoured according to the Tamil culture too.
With the three days of preparation the feast was celebrated in a grand scale. The festive mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Francis Daniel, OMI, the First Oblate Chaplain of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. The present hospital chaplain, Fr. Arul Sutharson, OMI, worked very hard to record the historicus of the chaplaincy ministry at the Jaffna General Teaching Hospital. We appreciate this painstaking effort of Fr. Arul Sutharshan.
