The Initiation and the first Profession of Vows

Three candidates from the Province of Jaffna were initiated into Novitiate on the 21st of August, 2021. They are: J. Dishon Assician Vaz, P. Jude Prasanth and Mariyanayagam Rajmathushan. Fr. Eugene Benedict, OMI, the Provincial Superior presided over the Mass. We wish them a very good beginning and wonderful life at the Novitiate.
On the following day 22nd of August, five of our Brothers made their First Profession of Vows. They are: Thanikasalam Anoshan Bertram from Trincomalee, Mexcy Ferdinand Macdelous Ferdinand from Mannar, Amarasingam Jeyakumaran from Jaffna, Soosaiappu Arockiya Johnson from Mannar and Jochim Julius Vaz from Badulla.
The words of Pope Francis would be appropriate to these newly professed. Delivering his message on the “World Day of Vocation – 2020”, Pope Francis said that the first word of vocation, then, is gratitude. Above all else, it is a response to a call from on high. Every vocation is born of that gaze of love with which the Lord came to meet us, perhaps even at a time when our boat was being battered by the storm. “Vocation, more than our own choice, is a response to the Lord’s unmerited call” (Letter to Priests, 4 August 2019). We will succeed in discovering and embracing our vocation once we open our hearts in gratitude and perceive the passage of God in our lives.
As you have chosen the way to focus your call on God, we wish you a fruitful journey amidst challenges and shortcomings. We too welcome you with greater joy to our Congregation.
