The Oblate Liturgical Book in Tamil was launched on the 5th of August, 2021 at Thodarpaham. Rev. Fr. S. James Surenthirarajah, OMI, who holds a Licentiate in Sacred Liturgy, with his sincere dedication and hard work, has produced a beautiful Oblate Missal in our Mother Tongue, Tamil. The Book is named ‘mkykupj; jpahfpfspd; jpUg;gyp E}y;”. This was a dream for a long time and now it is realized. We sincerely thank Fr. S. J. Suren for his hard work. We are glad that we have a Missal, which is Oblate and in Tamil. Fr. Suren’s initiatives were encouraged and approved by Very Rev. Fr. Eugene Benedict, OMI, the Provincial, and was supported financially by Rev. Fr. F. L. N. Croos, OMI, the Provincial Treasurer. Rev. Fr. Jeyanthan Pachchek, OMI corrected and selected technical terms in Tamil. Thanks to Fr. Jey. Sincere thanks to all those who contributed with their talents and skills to make it a success.
The first copy of the Oblate Missal was presented to Fr. Antony Jegath OMI, the present Novice Master, at ‘Sudupiyanila,’ the Sacred Heart Novitiate, Bandarawela and then to Rev. Fr. Shriyan, OMI of the Province of Colombo and to all the other 25 Oblates of our Province. Thank God for all the blessings amidst this Pandemic. This Missal is another sheer sign of hope that tells us that God wants our life to continue in the Church.
